Yu yu hakusho yusuke hairstyle6/29/2023 ![]() I got the inspiration for this style from Yusuke Urameshi's hair from the Yu-Yu Hakusho franchise. ![]() I even added a patch to the side to make it look like it was from the 90's. ![]() I made this hair more spikey and gelled back. I also got the inspiration from Commander Keith's hairstyle from the 1980's anime incarnation of Voltron.Ī2- For this one, I use on Hugo Ingelbert AKA A-Zero-05, the human medic from Galaxy Warriors. (How the fuck is your sticked up like that, Goku?!) It's a cliche that every otaku has seen in popular anime and manga, especially shonen and shoujos. The inspiration for the design came from how every anime heroes' hair sticks out like a sore thumb from all the others in their respective series like Yugi's hair (Yami or not) from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Inuyasha's hair from Inuyasha and even Goku's hair from Dragon Ball Z. This is the hairstyle I usually use on Sergeant Eric William-Jackson, the main protagonist to my series, Galaxy Warriors. Here's a list of descriptions for each of them.Ī1- For this one, I like to call it a "Hero/ Protagonist's Hair". I usually make my hairstyles more reminiscent of japanese anime hairstyles from the 1980's, 1990's and the early 2000's like Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Inuyasha, Akira, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z and Voltron (80's version). There is some fringe in the front. Here is a reference table of some of the hairstyles I used when I draw my characters from Galaxy Warriors or whenever I do a fan art in my own anime style. In the end I went with a lot of teasing and slicking back most of the hair, or styling it to the sides and adding in some flip. I ended up referencing shots of him when his hair is unstyled to get an idea of his length. I made the decision to keep it short because I can’t see Yusuke wanting a bunch of hair to get in the way while fighting. The other piece of this costume that required the most work was styling a wig that would stay true to the idea of Yusuke, but would have been a female hairstyle around the time and for the lady delinquent. All in all these are super comfortable and look very 80’s with the exaggerated high waist. The cuffs were gathered and have elastic to allow for just a bit of stretch. I added a faux tie to the front of the pants and created a ruffle at the top to give the look of gathering without the bulk. ![]() I also added a gusset into the crotch because while I am not going to be running around an beating up demons it seemed very character appropriate that Yusuke would need a wide range of leg motion. This pattern ended up lending very well to that because it had 2 darts built into the back for a “curvy” fit. I chose to go this route as opposed to a gathered waist because I wanted to make sure the fit was flattering particularly around the backside. Of course I couldn’t just make a pair of drawstring pants and be done with it so I modified a wide leg trouser pattern. This costume’s construction is about 90% pants as that’s about the only thing I made from scratch here. So it’s no surprise that when Sec-C cosplay started to talk about their idea for a genderbent YYH group I said YES PLEASE. Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite anime and if you’ve kept up with the Cosplay Flashback blogs you have probably seen me talk about it when I posted about my Keiko costume. ![]()
